C. Get Your Washington Tax ID Number and Or Other State Required Documentation
Have your Federal Tax ID Number (EIN) handy; most states require it on their state tax ID number forms and other forms that you may need to complete after you incorporate a business in Washington.
1. State Tax ID Number
You need to download the Master Application for the Department of Licensing (which sets the registration and licensing requirements as well as state tax information for your new company). To download the Master Application, go to
http://www.dol.wa.gov/forms/700028.html .
For all information on state taxes your business may owe in Washington, visit the Department of Revenue at
www.dor.wa.gov or call 1-800-647-7706. You may also want to call a CPA or tax advisor.
2. Annual Report
All corporations and LLCs registered with the Secretary of State must annually pay an annual report fee and/or submit a list of officers and directors to the Corporations Division. Corporations and Limited Liability Companies renew annually, and the renewal fee is $59. Master License Service sends a renewal notice to licensees approximately 45 days before their license expires. It is the licensee's responsibility to renew on time whether the renewal form is received or not.
The Corporation or Limited Liability Company (LLC) renewal is provided by the Department of Licensing as a renewal agent for the Office of the Secretary of State.
Surely, the list above is not everything you will need to do once you incorporate a business in Washington. You should always check with your accountant or attorney in order to make sure you are compliant with all state laws. Clickandinc.com is not a law firm and nothing on this page can be considered legal advice on which you can rely.
