B.  S Corporation Filings for Your New Michigan Corporation 

1.   Federal S-Corporation Election Form

NOTE: You have 75 days from the date you incorporate a business in Michigan to file your form 2553 with the IRS. If you fail to file in that time period, you will not be granted s-corporation status for the year in which you incorporate.

      2.    Business Licenses
 
There is no such thing as a “business license” on the state level. Several occupations and types of businesses are licensed by the state (e.g., doctors, manicurists, wildlife exhibitors, etc.).

     3.    Annual Report
 
In January of each year, the state will send a pre-printed Updated Corporate Information Report to your Registered Agent.
 
The report is due May 15th. The current filing fee is $15.
